Tim Sweeney: Co-Owner
Tim, one of the original owners, still remains active in the business overseeing day to day operations at the lab. He started in the business in 1973 and helped establish Dental Designs in 1980. Tim served two terms on the ADA Advisory Panel. He along with Terry Johnson partnered with UNL Dental College in establishing their implant program. Tim is married to Jody and they have 3 sons and 6 grandchildren. He enjoys spending time with his family, golfing, cars, and husker football.
Joe Barrett: Co-Owner
Joe started at the lab in 1999, sitting next to his father for several years learning the craft of porcelain work. In addition to being part owner of the lab, Joe is also the manager of the Porcelain Department in Lincoln. He has attended several centers for Advanced Dental Studies including Dawson and Spear. Joe is married to Nicki and they have two children, Austin and Devin. During Joe’s time away from the lab he enjoys golf and spending time with his wife and kids.
Ben Sweeney: Co-Owner
Ben graduated from Nebraska Wesleyan University and in 2002, began working at the lab. Ben manages the Omaha laboratory, implant department, and is part owner of the lab. He has had advanced training in implants from several clinics including Spear and Straumann ITI. Ben is married to Sara and they have two children, Sophia and Sydney. Ben enjoys football, basketball, reading, and spending time with his family.
Ryan Sweeney: Co-Owner
Ryan has been at Dental Designs since 2005, and on February 1, 2017, he became part owner. He started his dental lab career in the denture department, where he spent the first three years and has experience in metal framework and full cast gold. Ryan manages our CAD-CAM department, where he handles all E-MAX and Zirconia cases. He is a graduate of Nebraska Wesleyan where he majored in communications and was a member the cross country and track and field teams. Ryan is married to Susie and they have two boys, Brennan and Brock. Ryan enjoys Husker football, running, working out and spending time with
his family.
Deb DeWitt: Business Manager
Deb has been the Business Manager with Dental Designs since 2006. She has 25 years of prior banking and management experience. Deb is at the Omaha office and handles all accounting functions. Deb enjoys talking to the dentists and their office staff and continually works to provide better customer service. Deb and her husband Tony have two children, Austin and Brooke. When not at work she enjoys time with family, working in the yard and shopping.
Terry Johnson, CDT
Terry is a Certified Dental Technician and has been with Dental Designs since 1983. He has had training in all areas of implant treatment for partially and fully edentulous patients, and was a 2017 National Association of Dental Laboratories Hall of Fame award winner. Terry is also an associate professor on staff at the University Of Nebraska College Of Dentistry. He is married to Angie and has 3 adopted children: Kayla, Cody and Emily. He and his wife are also licensed foster parents for the State of Nebraska and currently foster infants.
Tim Kapustka: Bridge and Crown Department Manager
Tim, or TK as he is known around the lab, has been with Dental Designs since 1993. Tim is a CDT, manages the crown and bridge department, and has helped the lab utilize 3D printing for our castable restorations. In his time away from the lab, Tim enjoys spending time with his son, Dylan. He also enjoys archery and husker football.
Leah Morris: Porcelain Department Manager
Leah Morris has been working for Dental Designs since 2006. She is the manager of the porcelain department in our Omaha lab. Leah specializes in custom color matches, both in the lab and in office. She also frequently lectures both in office and at seminars on the subject of color. Leah is married to Tyler and enjoys spending her time away from the lab as an aerial fitness instructor.
Ross Ballinger : Omaha Removable Department Manager
Ross is our Removable Department Manager in Omaha. He has worked in a dental lab since 1999. His favorite part of his job is successfully navigating the challenges that come with removable dentistry. Ross also enjoys educating himself and his team on the latest products, technological advances, and techniques that will help provide our dentists with a consistent, quality removable prosthetics. In his free time, Ross enjoys spending time with his kids, Kaylie, Lynn, and Brady. He also coaches 2 youth soccer teams for The Omaha Legends Soccer Club.
